Night swimming, rambunctious girls, green and orange balloons, rock and metal music. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I attended nevertheless the birthday party thrown by two of my close friends.
It was a swimming party, but I didn't swim. ^_^' I left that to my other former classmates, who were the life of the party. While most of them were tumbling and thrashing and screaming their lungs out by the water, I, and most of my friends who prefer to sit, talk, and babble about anything, did just that.
Only, we ended up running for cover (what little there is for us to cower under), and standing and giggling while the rain pelted our backs. We were good as wet, but we were saved from being completely drenched when we found a small shed/shack. It was dank and dark inside, but not really musty, since the cool air is providing us with lots of oxygen.
We talked about how quickly the time has passed us all by. In just a few days many of us are all ready to begin a new chapter of our lives, and treading on our own chosen roads alone, off to college.
While the rain was heavily pouring down, and most were shrieking with delight by the poolside, we were talking about regrets and half-baked promises, of brittle friendships and seedy relationships, of betrayal and trust, of moving on and getting ahead. We discussed recipes and coffees, and craved for some wine, admired the sky with no stars, and ate refrigerated cake. Oh yes, it was just like some secret meeting, a hidden society.
We talked about how people are, and where some of those we knew have gone; we even discussed intensely this certain theory about men and their foot sizes. *LOL* Somehow, the subject was still open and nope, we haven't gone yet to a conclusion. There was an objection however, and one lady piped up and said that it has something to do with the hands. *LOL*
Sigh. The things girls discuss. Haha. And yes, we did our share of bitching too.
We talked of sickness and of dying, of cigarettes and addictions (all these while some are nursing a light beer), of piano lessons and of ROTC. I was a brownnoser at that moment. Haha. I was telling a friend to stop smoking while refusing a can of beer. Tough really, they all kept on forcing me to try and drink, but I really can't. To convince them I had to tell my experience with wine last New Year's Eve. Two glasses of white wine and one glass of red wine got me laughing my head of hysterically. What more of a beer?
It was a good four to five hours before the rain let up, and by then, most of the swimmers were drunk too. I wasn't in the mood to watch my former classmates drape themselves over their guys, so I opted to go home.
It wasn't my ideal party, nor did we ever sang "Happy Birthday" once to the celebrants, and I haven't eaten much. But I wasn't really hungry for food, in fact, I believe I was more starved for company.
I've missed talking with people who have sense. I've missed discussions about anything and everything. I've been way cooped up for too long inside this damn house, it made me realize I better get out once in a while. *LOL*
It Was Raining, and We Talked About Life
